Degree at Home - Is it Recognized?

Now-a-days there is the facility to earn the degree online, without visiting the study centre or giving exams in person. The people might be very busy with their work and do not get any time to go to the colleges and complete their studies. So for such people the online degree websites are very helpful as they provide them with the necessary degree whenever and wherever they require.
They do not have to visit the colleges or give exams in person but they can easily go for the online degrees.

They just have to give the exams at home online and they are provided with a degree at home.

The people can use the degree like others.
In this case the value is not diminished but remains the same.

There are many schools and colleges that provide the online degree. This increases the number of students enrolled and moreover it provides an ease to their students as well. The online college degree is not liked by most of the people as there is a superstition amongst the people that the significance of the degree diminishes.
But in reality it is not so as the importance remains the same the only difference is that a regular student attends the regular classes but the person opting for the online degree does not attend the classes and studies at home and gives the exam online.
Such degrees can be used as the other degrees and hence you can go for the higher studies or give an interview for job as well.

The diploma can be called as the fruit of the hard work and the endurance of a student. It is the report of the academics that he has completed in the recent past and that he is capable of going for the higher studies.

But if you lose your diploma then it might be a great problem for you.
But still it does not mean that your career is finished as a duplicate copy of the diploma can be easily got from the board to which you belong. So the lost diploma cannot harm your career but it brings some hard labor to get it back.

How Athletes Benefit From Attending Cyber Schools

There are many reasons students might want to attend school outside of a traditional classroom.

One of these has to do with pursuing an athletic dream.

Serious athletes who want to be able to devote many hours a day to training simply don't have time to attend a traditional school.
They need an academic environment that can adapt to their busy schedule, which is why many of them turn to cyber schools. Cyber schools allow athletes training for elite events to: Dedicate hours a day to intensive training Devote themselves to their sport of choice, while still getting a great education Attend school during the hours they are not training Take their studies on the road with them Turn any space into a classroom Learn on their own time, at their own pace Having the flexibility to learn anywhere, at any time is important to children and young adults who want to pursue athletic dreams. They don't have to sacrifice their education in order to excel in their sports.
Some of the young athletes who take advantage of attending a virtual school include those who: Have a dream of joining their country's Olympic team Want to play a sport at a Division 1 college Are interested in going pro in their sport These are not your average grade school or high school athletes.
These are children and young adults who have a dream of developing their talents to the point where they will become part of a truly competitive group of athletes.
In order for this to happen, they have to be able to devote themselves to hours of practice every single day and travel for competitions.
Cyber Schools Have the Flexible Schedule Competitive Athletes Need It's easy to see why these types of athletes are not able to sit in a traditional classroom for eight hours a day. They need a unique learning schedule that fits in and around their intensive training regiments. That's why cyber schools have been instrumental in helping today's elite athletes pursue their dreams while still staying on top of their education.
Whether they are on the road, in the locker room or spending some down time at home, all they need to do is turn on their computer to get connected to their school - and their education.
Children and young adults who want to pursue competitive athletic dreams can find an educational model that meets their needs in today's cyber schools.

IBM's Watson Takes Center Stage On Jeopardy

For the first time in history, an IBM computer will be taking center stage on the well-known game show, Jeopardy.

Playing against two other phenomenal Jeopardy players, Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings, this supercomputer named Watson, will have to defeat the running champion to claim its title.
To be taped and aired in mid February, trivia watchers from around the globe will be glued to their televisions, to see if a computer can truly act human enough to compete, and be knowledgeable enough to win.
A computer with a personality? This lifelike computer screen changes color to depict different emotions. In altering its colors, it also expresses to the audience its certainty in answering questions.

It has to work as fast as the other contestants, in clicking its game show buzzer.
Within three seconds the computer has to check its systems to see if it has a possible answer, and click the buzzer immediately thereafter.

In person, audience members are saying it's "unbelievable to watch".
With a computer voice that answers questions, this computer is projecting a different type of personality than that of Jeopardy competitors that fans are immune to. How does Watson do it? This IBM computer has an incredible number of algorithms it must use for clicking the buzzer, formulating answers and processing questions. It filters through these algorithms on every question, determining which are trustworthy, and which may apply to the question at hand.

Watson also comes complete with a dictionary, of which IBM creators do not believe assist the computer too much in the game of Jeopardy.

Watson is also connected to a selection of databases, which house all of the algorithms and information Watson is programmed to filter and understand.

These databases are not, in fact, hooked up to the internet, as Jeopardy ruling had deemed that 'cheating'. The databases are much like an IBM server, that connect formulas of information for Watson to scan.
Another great feature for the audience members on Jeopardy, is that Watson takes the three best possible answers and places them on its screen.

The audience can then travel the thought process of the computer, also, wondering which answer Watson will deem correct.
When a trial run competition was attempted, Watson answered one hundred percent of its questions correctly.
This also placed Watson in the lead, when practicing to compete.
Now, practice is one thing, but audience members, IBM team members and home viewers alike are excited to see what Watson can do in a real time competition.

Interviews by Watson's opponents and a few live shots of the supercomputer in action, can be found online.
Until the actual viewing of the game, viewers will just have to wait to see Watson in full-throttle action.

The expected view dates for the competition begin on Valentine's Day this year, and continue for the next two days thereafter. The winning pot for the champion - one million dollars.

If Watson wins, IBM has decided they will donate one hundred percent of the winnings to charity.

How Can You Select a Right RC Car?

Remote control vehicles are available in various types of styles, shapes and sizes.
Hence, with so many features and models to select from, it may be a crucial task to decide which one could be the best for you.
Why do I choose an RC car? It is the most usually asked question when it comes to radio control or remote cars.
So, the simple answer to this question is that you can make it as your hobby. If you want an RC vehicle because you have been praising the appearance of a particular car, then you also need to concentrate on engine segment. If you have gone to few races and are interested in the exciting competition, then you will be more interested in the model and style of a particular car.
Moreover, if you are interested in the look of a particular car then you need to choose a visually appealing car.
If you want to participate in the local racing competitions then you need to go with a car that fulfils all the local racing rules and regulations. Consider your free time It is another important point that you must keep in mind while choosing a remote car. You must know that certain RC cars need a certain amount of time to customize, maintain and assemble. Hence, you must calculate how much time you are willing to invest in enjoying these cars.

If you don't have lots of time for this particular work then you need to choose a nitro version. However, a nitro powered vehicle can be swifter and more powerful to race but it needs extra care to keep it in a good condition. You can also choose an electric car to save your driving time. Where can you drive these cars? It is a noted point that certain types of radio controlled vehicles are engineered for certain types of grounds. But, off-road versions can be driven on smooth long driveways or roads. Therefore, before investing in a particular vehicle, you need to determine where you will be able to use it.

Consider your budget Needless to say that remote control vehicle hobby could really be expensive or not, depending on your preferences.
Remember, the price of a particular car largely depends on which type of car you choose.

It means that a nitro powered vehicle can be more expensive rather than an electric powered vehicle. Moreover, various parts and equipments meant for some serious racing games are also not cheap.

If you want to customize your selected car then you should be ready to invest more money into it.

Apart from that if you don't have time, tools and ability to customize a desired car then customization of your car could be very expensive. Where can I buy an RC CAR? If you have planned to buy a desired vehicle then there are so many online stores available.

What all you need to do is to search a reputable shop using internet.

You can also buy them online sitting at your home.

Moreover, most of the online stores offer free shipping facility.

What Do You Look for in Children's Earrings?

What is it sensible to look for? Well, when we look for earrings for ourselves, we want comfort, safety and of course, to look good.
And we want to really LOVE the earrings! Well, purchasing earrings for kids is much the same, but with a couple of extras to bear in mind, especially when we're buying our kids their first few pairs of earrings for newly pierced ears.
We've put together 6 points to guide you.

1.

The earrings must first of all be made of a non toxic metal.
Preferably sterling silver, stainless steel, or gold.

Alloys we should be wary of, since we don't know the components and could contain such toxic elements as cadmium, lead or nickel.
These elements can cause serious health problems to children, especially very young children.
2. They must be petite so as not to overwhelm a tiny earlobe.
Large earrings on little lobes, is not a good look! Also, the larger they are, the weightier they are and if they're first-time-earring-wearers, the tinier the better. 3. They must be lightweight and comfortable.

Especially for those first-time-earring-wearers, who might fiddle if they can feel them.

If they can't feel them, they will forget they're wearing them, therefore they will not fiddle with them and lose them.
Avoid little drop earrings for first-timers, because the movement will only serve to remind them of the earrings they're wearing. Fiddling with them usually results in the backs coming off and the loss of an earring. And you don't want to be buying new children's earrings every week! 4.
They must have a short rod, therefore made for children, not adults. However, adults can usually wear children's earrings! Surprisingly, the thickness of ears doesn't change much as we grow up. But if the rod is short, it's not going to push against her head behind her ear, which is very important! 5. They must have firmly fitting backs or safety screw backs.

The earrings we choose with love, are too good to lose! 6. And they must have an element that's attractive to kids! Now this might be color, as in colorful stones or enameling, or shape, as in features like hearts, ladybugs, butterflies etc. Sparkle and shine is another feature very attractive to kids. A sparkly lead-free crystal or cz stone, especially in pink or other child-friendly color, or highly polished silver or gold, both features kids, especially little ones, really love.

Just One Kiss Princess Tiana Doll - A New Era For Disney

The melting pot of America has spilled over into the big screen.
The new Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog will star an African-American character as the princess. This new addition is expected to make serious waves in the box office and with kids.

Already, collectors are snatching up its doll, the Just One Kiss Princess Tiana Doll.
There is good reason too as this marks a historic occasion and am happy to see it finally come.
Many parents of color should also be happy to see this change as we are starting see more characters of color appear in movies and shows. Another example is the popular children's show, Dora The Explorer. In this one, Dora is of Hispanic descent and teaches kids all types of wonderful things.

Odds are good that if you have kids you already know about her. Her products have been a big hit and she is now even expanding into a teen version.

However, enough about Dora.

Princess Tiana could be a character with her own share of sales potential as her new Disney Movie comes out a few weeks before Christmas.
Odds are very good this will make it the most watched children's movie during the holiday season and make demand for her doll very high. The only problem is that many parents will be scrambling trying to pick up this doll in time for Christmas.
The smarter solution is to order earlier to ensure your kids don't miss out on getting this historic doll. However, the main point to takeaway is that Disney® has taken an important step to appeal to the ever changing fabric of America. This is a good chance that will most likely be met with future additional changes as our country continues to evolve.

I like many am eagerly awaiting these changes.

Preschool Kids - "When I Grow Up, I Want To Be"

For preschool kids, one of the biggest open-ended questions they can be asked is "what do you want to be when you grow up?" When asked this question, many preschool kids tend to shoot for the stars.

However, this question can be an easy way to introduce a unit on occupations and community helpers, two subjects that can be explored though games, activities, crafts and even guest speakers.
The Helpers in the Community It's important to teach preschool kids about the many tasks of community helpers, such as doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers, mail carriers, and police officers.

Start by asking the children if they know any adults with these professions to see how much children know about the tasks associated with these various occupations. When learning about doctors and nurses, try this fun craft called "Fix my Wound". For this craft, trace the outline of the child's arm or leg on a piece of paper.
The children are to color or paint their limb including a small wound.
Once the paint has dried, distribute band-aids to the children for them to place over the wounds on their crafts.

Then, have each child present a story to the class as to how they got hurt and who helped them fix it. Here's a craft where children make police badges that's perfect for learning about safety and the police.
To begin the craft, cut out a number of badges from cardboard, and cover each badge with aluminum foil. Use stickers to decorate the badges, or try etching patterns into the foil with the stubby end of a paintbrush. There are also a number of fun games for preschool kids to learn about the objects and tasks associated with various community helpers.
First, cut out a number of pictures from magazines that are associated with community helpers, such as letters, stethoscopes, toothbrushes, or fire hydrants.

Next, place a picture of each community helper on the wall and have the children match the objects to the corresponding person from the community.
"Special Delivery!" Here's another fun matching game that's perfect for practicing what it might be like to deliver mail. Cut out a large number of different colored shapes, like triangles, circles, stars, and squares. Gather an equal number of mailboxes to the number of shapes, and label each mailbox with a picture of one of the shapes.
Give the shapes to the children to place in the corresponding mailboxes. After all the shapes have been delivered, try the exercises again by sorting the deliveries by color instead of by shape.
Finally, here's a matching game that teaches children good nutritional habits, which can be played in conjunction with learning about oral hygiene and dentists.

Place two large teeth on the wall.
One tooth should be white and sparkling clean while the other is covered with dirt and plaque.
Next, hold up a series of pictures of foods, both good and bad, and have children decide which food goes with which tooth. This last exercise in this preschool kids series can also be performed with real food, as long as there aren't too many examples of bad food!

Concept Behind Legos For Girls

The concept behind the Lego building blocks is to harness the creative power of kids.
Children have a lot of imagination but they do not have the means to express it fully.
Through Lego, they can build virtually anything.
A child gets over 9 million possible combinations with a set of six 2X4 Lego bricks.

From the car to the city, the Lego block is an excellent way to develop the imagination of the kid. Lego are also crucial to develop social skills because it encourages group play and cooperation. Because the child has to handle the blocks quite adroitly in order to build anything, Lego are thought to have a positive impact on the development of motor skills.

All in all, Lego are excellent development aids. To think that all these advantages are denied to girls is almost unthinkable. Yet, there is an incomprehensible bias towards boy-related themes in Lego toys (spacecraft, cars, machines, ninja fighters...
etc.
). Girl-y themes are few and far between.

A child will only spend time at a game if his/her interest is piqued.

Without the appropriate theme, children would not be interested at spending enough time at the game to benefit from the above advantages.
Some of the Girl themed Lego toys include: o Lego Pink Brick Box with flowers and pink blocks o House building sets (not particularly for girls but can be used to build dollhouses for example) o Lego Hospital Set o Lego Belville with girl dolls, puppies and horses.

These examples compares feebly with the hundreds of themes available for boys.

It is clear that Lego should consider developing more products that are specifically geared towards girls.

Youth and Crime

The recent media reports have overwhelming content on youth crime. A number of studies have also gone on to report upon the extent and nature of those crimes.
The government and the reform agencies including the juvenile justice system have responded accordingly.

In this essay we propose to discuss dimensions, experiences and causes of the problems, as well as the policy responses to them.
Extent of the Problem According to Nacro youth crime fact sheet, "Offending by young people is relatively common.
Some 33 % of males aged 15-16 years in self report studies, for example, admit committing at least one offence within the past 12 months.
At the same time, public perceptions tend to overstate the extent of crime which is attributable to young people: 28% believe that young people are responsible for more than half of all offences; and a further 55% consider that responsibility for crime is shared equally by adults and young people.

In fact during 1999, 76% of detected crime was committed by persons over the age of 18.
Offenders over 21 years were responsible were responsible for over 60% of detected offending" According to a survey carried out by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, published in 2002, based on the sample size of 14000 exposed some of the unknown facts on youth crime in the U.K. According to the survey, almost half of Britain's secondary school children admitted breaking the law at some time; a third of 14-15 year olds admitted committing criminal damage and a quarter admitted shoplifting in the past year; one in five 15-16 year old boys admitted to attacking some one with the intention to cause serious harm; one in 10 boys in the age group 11-12 said they had carried a knife or other weapon in the past year and 8 percent admitted to having attacked someone with an intention to cause serious harm.
One in 10 boys aged 15 and 16 had broken into a building to steal during the previous year including 4 percent who said they had done so three or four times; a quarter of 13 to 14 year olds indulged in binge drinking, consuming five or more alcoholic drinks in one session; serious drug problems were also identified.

According to the Youth Lifestyle Survey (YLS) carried among 4848 respondents (aged between 12 and 30 yrs.
) between October 1998 and January 1999 several youth offences were reported.

Almost half of 12-30 year olds admitted committing at least on of the 27 offences at some stage of their lives (57% men and 37% women). The other reported findings were as follows: - almost a fifth (19%) of 12 to 30 year olds admitted one or more offence in the last 12 months. Women were less likely to have offended (11%) as compared to men (26%).
- At the time of the reported offence, about half (48% of men and 59% of women) had committed only one or two offences.

- Among all offences in 12 to 30 year olds, those in the age 14-21 committed most while those in the youngest (12 to 13) and oldest (26 to 30) age groups committed the least.
- The offending began at an average age of 13 ½ for boys and 14 for girls - The rates of offending are highest among men aged 18 - the peak age of offending; among women the peak age of offending is 14. - At the ages 12 and 13 there is little difference in boys and girls in offending including drug use and drinking.

The difference becomes marked after the age of 14, and over the age of 17, male offenders outnumber the women by a ratio of about 3:1. A number of reports have unanimously pointed out a perceptible decrease in youth crimes over the last 15 years.

For instance the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, between 1983 and 1993 there was a drop of 42% among the 10 to 13 year old boys who were found guilty or cautioned for more serious more serious "indictable" offences. The corresponding decline among 14-17 year old boys was 15%.
However, it was also pointed out at the same time that the perceptible decrease was illusory, as the police-recorded crime statistics and the national surveys of the victims of crime together agree that within the same period there has been a dramatic increase in offences like burglary and vehicle thefts, the types of offences most often committed by young people.

The other probable reasons explaining the discrepancy could be a growing reluctance to take juveniles to court and an increasing tendency on the part of police to issue unrecorded warnings rather than formal cautions. Factors Responsible for Criminal Behavior We might be interested in knowing the factors that might possibly dispose young people toward criminal behavior.

We should also like to be informed on the risk factors associated to crime. According to Joseph Rawntree Foundation, young offenders tend to be versatile and rarely specialize in specific crime or violence.

Longitudinal research has identified features in the childhood and adult lives of violent offenders and non-violent persistent offenders that are very similar, suggesting that violent offenders are essentially frequent offenders.
Studies have also found that young offenders are versatile in committing other types of antisocial behavior, including heavy drinking, drug-taking, dangerous driving and promiscuous sex.
Delinquency is, therefore, only one element in a much larger syndrome of antisocial behavior.
A large number of available researches on backgrounds, circumstances, and attitudes of future offenders have identified factors that point to an increased risk of future criminal behavior among children. Some of them as pointed out by the Home Office are troubled home life; poor attainment at school, truancy and school exclusion; drug or alcohol misuse and mental illness; deprivation such as poor housing and homelessness; peer group pressure.

More or less similar set of reasons have been identified by the studies on criminal behavior.

Ian Colquhoun identifies major causes of youth crime as follows: Low income and poor housing; Living in deteriorating inner city areas; A high degree of impulsiveness and hyperactivity; Low intelligence and low attainment; Poor prenatal discipline and harsh erratic discipline; Parental conflict and broken families.
The global report on human settlement points out that a wealth of international data suggests that crime and violence are strongly associated with the growth and proportions of youthful populations, and especially young males.

Youth crimes and violence rates are also associated with such environmental factors as level of policing, conviction and imprisonment rates, drug cultures and a host of situational elements that condition people.
Across countries, small arms survey and WHO data report that males aged 15-29 account for about half of all firearm related homicides.

However, apart from the factors internal to the offenders, the planning and policy measures are significant determinants of crime. "From a planning and public policy standpoint, then, where crimes occur and how places are designed and managed are at least as important as who the perpetrators are.

.

.
because crime and violence tends to reoccur in relatively limited number of places in cities.

.

.

generally well known to citizens and police, and occurrences are therefore, reasonably predictable"

Amateur Radio: God Logs in to the "What's New in the World" Hf Net

I've always had an interest in radio.

When I was a kid I was always looking for parts to make a crystal set, a diode operated earphone radio.

We didn't have solid state diodes in those day so I used a chunk of galena my grandfather had mined.
With what was called a "cat whisker" I could create what is known as a contact diode which gives the current-only-in-one-direction criteria required to rectify a radio signal.
When tube radios came out as the depression subsided with WW II, we had a tube radio in our home.
However, we often lost Jack Armstrong and the Green Hornet because of tube failure, something we seldom see now days.

With the failure of the tube we could be out of the Jack Armstrong, Green Hornet, Inner Sanctum, and The Hit Parade business for months until someone came up with the money and time to get a new tube.

In high school, I became very interested in Amateur Radio and read all the old license manuals I could find.
I only knew one operator and he was off to the war but I was able to read his books. Life went on, I went to the Korean War, then college and all that so I never had either the time or money to get into Amateur Radio. However, my son and I were out doing some church work one evening and I saw that the home we were to visit had a Quad Antenna. The owner, N3XU, now a silent key, gave us the 5-minute code test on the spot and both of us became operators as did my oldest son.
When I left AZ several years ago, I sold all my HF gear but kept my 2-meter rig. So, I was flipping around on 145 MHz and I heard, "This is GOD1 listening!" I said, "KK7ID, here!" It was unusual to hear anything on my 2-meter rig which is on my tool bench in the garage.
Here is how things went: GOD1: Where are the guys? KK7ID: What guys? Name is John. GOD1: Is that you, Mo? Changed your call signs again. WW3JFJ! WB3KYG! This is God.
KK7ID: God! That is an unusual name for a Ham.
Why did you call me MO? I haven't used that handle for years. Do I know you? GOD1: You might be killed.

You might be wounded.

But do your duty and do as you've been trained.

KK7ID: It is YOU! Korea. I was ready to climb over the ridge line and join the Chinese Army with all those 105 rounds pounding us from our artillery down in the Punch Bowl.
GOD1: Three time in one night is a bit much.

You were very lucky.

I was looking for the What's New in the World HF Net.
KK7ID: You are not on HF. GOD1: Oh, you are right. You've got to watch this Kenwood® 6990332. I got on the wrong band.
Sorry to have bothered you. KK7ID: You are not bothering me.

What in the heck is a Kenwood® 6990332? GOD1: It's a code they use in the labs at Kenwood® for a model they hope to introduce in June of 2009.

They will be behind in production because of the typhoon, so it won't be out until February 2010.
A mess of integrated circuits are going to get soaked. KK7ID: What typhoon? GOD1: Fall 2008.

If you were here, you could see it. Want to see it? KK7ID: What would I have to do to do that, die? GOD1: You are not getting out of that Can-You-Draw-This Art Course that easy.

No, I can put it on your computer screen.

Let's see, which email address should I send it to? It makes a great screen saver.
Oh! I can just put it up on one of your web sites.

Wait! I'll just put it directly into your computer. There, it is on your screen.

How does it look? KK7ID: I'm out in the garage.
GOD1: It's in one of those plastic containers you bought at Wal-Mart.
Try JJ.

I shuffled a few containers around and opened container JJ.

There was my wife's sewing frame, the reason I was in the garage in the first place.

KK7ID: I'll go into the house but I don't want to lose contact with you, not before we can set up a schedule. GOD1: On your screen you will see an Icon.

It's a direct link to my chat room.

In looks like a Barbegazi . KK7ID: A Barbegazi? One of those ice gnomes. I'll find it, but I don't want to be chatting with a zillion others. I want to chat with you.

GOD1: Okay! I'll set up a private chat room on your computer. I'll have to tell Moses and Abraham and Peter to keep out.

They like to stick their noses here and there.

KK7ID: I didn't mean to cut Moses, Abraham, and Peter out. I'm new at this.

GOD1: Fine! We are all set.

Beauty Tips for Teenagers - Top 4 Things You Never Bothered About

What do you categorize as true beauty? If I asked the same question, I would say confidence is the secret behind being beautiful. When it comes to teenagers they face of lot of problems, tension and confusion and it becomes difficult to look flawless on top of these things.
None of us are imperfect and so you need to try out new things and accept your positive as well as negative aspects and bring out the best too look great and feel awesome.
Here are a few tips to help you find confidence that can be certainly achieved from nothing other than self-esteem.

Tip #1: The first step to skin care as you may find in several beauty tips is find out your skin type with the tissue paper test so that you can pick the right cosmetics.

There are 5 different skin types including dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, combination skin and normal skin type.

Tip #2: It is of course true that people are judged with the cleanliness of their hands. For this, make sure you never bite your nails as it seems awkward in the first appearance itself.

While cutting the nails, try to perform at different angles so that you get a good shape.

File it after trimming and always keep a safe length and in case you need long nails you can make use of nail clippers that is safe and hygienic.

Tip#3: Make up is important especially when you are a teenager to hide your pimples, red areas, scars and also to look magnificent. At the same time, it is important to keep it light and simple instead of making it intense and bright making you feel older.
Select the right foundation for your skin that suites the color and use smoky eye shades and light eye makeup along.

Finally finish it with lip gloss or lipstick for the cool effect.

Tip #4: Keeping your hair fresh and nice is one of the greatest beauty tip and this is something that many of them skip. It is not necessary to keep up with your hair beauty with expensive cosmetics or by damaging hair with flat irons, hot blow dryers or curling irons.
You can keep your hair smelling fresh by spraying a little of your cologne or perfume lightly onto the bristles of your brush and combing right away to produce fresh scent.

The Best Remote Control Airplanes

Flying is one of man's greatest achievements to date.

Men and women enjoy the exhilarating experience of flight. This is what started the building of aircraft like planes, helicopters and hot-air balloons.
There is another passion that was sparked by flying, remote control aircrafts. At first, this hobby was considered a rich person's toy but with the advent of advanced technological breakthroughs, efficient and lighter motors and battery packs; cheaper but more effective radio systems have made RC aircraft flying more affordable. The best remote control airplanes for beginners are park flyers and trainers. These are ready-to-fly crafts that are made with beginners in mind for its low speed and simple construction allowing field repairs even after major crash damage.

Park flyers are the best for beginners because of their small size, slow and compliant enough to be flown on a contained space such as parks, gyms and even in the living room. Also a favorite among experienced pilots for its advanced radio technology and materials that brings forth high performance with full aerobatic capabilities such as high g-force maneuvers and nose up hovering that can only be seen before with bigger scales. Park flyers are susceptible to wind and turbulence because of their low speed capacity. Some can't fly in more than a light breeze.

Wind speed shouldn't be more than 50% of the flying speed. Two good models of park flyers recommended as the best remote controlled airplanes for beginners are The Champ and Ember2.
These are both durable and easy to fly at slow speed.

These are great to practice flying in small spaces such as bedroom, living room and gym.

These can also be flown outdoors on calm fine weathers, from backyards and parks.
A word of caution on flying at open spaces such as parks, keep away from people and dogs to avoid injuries from accidental lost of control of the plane.
Flight simulation games are available for beginners who wish to practice flying without damaging an aircraft.
These simulators are also good in determining skill levels before investing on an actual airplane.
RC plane flying is a serious hobby with investment on time and money.

Simulation games will hone the flying instincts beforehand. T-28 Trojan and P-51D Mustang are the best remote control airplanes for intermediate flyers but with practice on simulators, a beginner can also start maneuvering these aircrafts. T-28 is good on slow touch and go's and throw backs.
It has the capability of performing sports aerobatics with good scale lines and US Navy design. The best feature is its small enough to be flown on the backyard. The Mustang has the look of the WWII airplane with slow flying capabilities on small spaces such as the living room or backyard.

The best remote control airplanes for beginners are those with slow speed but with maneuvering capabilities that will challenge the pilot to go for the extra mile in flight.
Simulation games are helpful in conquering the leaps and bounds of flying without damaging any aircraft. Remember, RC planes are not just toys but objects of leisure and pleasure for those who wish to experience the exhilaration of flying.

Online Safety Tips - Keep Your Computer in a Central Place

Congratulations on your new computer! Now where are you going to put it to make it available to multiple family members? One of the best decisions we ever made was putting our first computer in the breakfast nook.

That was in 1980. At that point we had no other space large enough to hold the computer, monitor, and printer.

So it went onto a desk along the wall of our breakfast nook.
When we moved to a new house, we again set up the computer in the breakfast nook.
It was a central location, so even if someone was using the computer they were still in the flow of the family.
It also made it easy to help the children, even when I was cooking.

I could easily step into the breakfast nook - or just answer a question from the kitchen.

Since we were early adopters of technology, it was long before online threats and personal security were factors. But if I had it to do over again, I would definitely put the computer in the breakfast nook.

Here's why: 1.
The breakfast nook (or kitchen table area) are at the core of the home. No one has to separate themselves from the family in order to work on the computer.
That makes it more likely to get used regularly.
2. By placing the screen against the wall it makes visual control of the screen easy, even from across the room. There is no temptation for someone to visit online places they shouldn't because another family member can easily walk by at any time. 3. That same screen placement makes it simple to share the screen for questions, demonstrations, and watching videos. Just pull up a kitchen chair and enjoy.

4.

It encourages conversation about what they are seeing and doing on the computer. That can often lead to difficult questions about online safety - or algebra.
But being close and available makes the central location ideal.

But what if you don't have a breakfast nook or an easily tailored alcove? Then consider rearranging some furniture and some lifestyle choices to put the computer in a central location with traffic passing by regularly.
Not only does it provide a measure of online safety, but it's also a bonding experience.
The value you receive and the lessons your children learn as they are using the computer make the adjustments worthwhile.

You won't regret putting your computer in a central location.

The Benefits of Sending Your Child to Summer Camp

When summer starts and the kids are home it can be difficult to keep them entertained.
You want them to continue to have the social interactions, the learning experiences, and the fun that they experience while in school.
But, it can be tough to keep this up, especially if you work full time. A smart answer is to send your children to camp.

There are plenty of benefits that come from sending your child to camp. For one, you will get them out of the house, away from the TV and video games, away from nagging each other and becoming bored. They will be able to play out some of their energy with exercise and activities.
And, they will have time outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Sending your child to summer camp will also add social interaction into their lives. If they are going to a camp with classmates they will be able to keep contact throughout the summer so that they don't lose touch during the break from school. Plus, they will have the opportunity to meet children that might not be from their school or area.

This gives them a diverse social circle to play, learn, and talk with.

Camp creates an atmosphere where your child can meet new people and build lasting friendships.

Another benefit of summer camp is that your child will be put into a new environment.

They will gain independence and experience new things. They can use the knowledge they obtained throughout the school year and apply it to their camp activities. It will be a fun and exciting way for your child to continuously learn and grow throughout the summer. As for what camp to choose, there are summer camps designed to meet any child's interest.
They can be general and offer a variety of activities like arts and crafts, games, theater, and outdoor fun.

Or, the camp can be specific to a certain sport like gymnastic camp or baseball camp, or to a specific activity like kids fitness camps.
Depending on the age of your son or daughter you might consider a sleep away camp.

This will give them the added experience of caring for themselves during the period they are away. For younger children, most areas offer plenty of half or full day camp options.

These would keep them on a similar schedule as the school year.
When deciding on which camp to choose, it is good to take into consideration your child's age, likes or dislikes, and expectations. Although a little persuasion might be necessary, you do not want to force your child into a camp that does not fit them.
Include your child in the selection process.
Make it an exciting time and you and your child will be sure to benefit from your collective decision.
Summer camps will not only keep your children entertained, they will also create lasting memories and life-long friendships!

Signs of an Infected PC and Remedies to Fix It

Viruses and spyware are capable of invading your computer system either through upfront attacks or sneaky attacks. Once they infect your PC, it can be very difficult to remove them completely.

Malicious viruses can cause damages to your computer and may disrupt normal operations.

Spyware can steal your personal information and can be dangerous to your privacy.

Common infiltrations include email attachments, file sharing with an infected PC, unsafe program installation, and even through a "back door" port in your PC.
Whichever way they enter, once they get in, you'll definitely experience much annoyance and frustration.
Some of the common symptoms of a computer infected with a virus, spyware, or adware are as follows: .

Unusual, frequent pop-ups appear and redirection occurs .

Frequent freezes or lock ups, crashes, and very slow performance .
Your PC boots up longer than usual . The available hard drive space in your PC goes missing .
Changed and irreplaceable wallpaper . A deleted program that suddenly reappears when you start up your computer If you've experienced any of the strange occurrences above, then your computer might be infected with a malicious virus or spyware. The next step for you to do is to identify them and delete the code.
To do this, you can follow these easy steps: 1.
First off, it's very important to back up all your valuable data.

Scan these files first to avoid re-infection of the virus unto your computer. 2.

Update your anti-virus program, then do a full scan of the hard drive.
Follow the guideline to quarantine and remove corrupted files. 3.
Use your anti-spyware to scan the hard drive and remove all detected spyware or adware.
4.
If you acquired the virus or spyware through installing a free game or utility, you should uninstall these to remove all traces of the problem.
5. Update your anti-virus software regularly. Additionally, set up your firewall and keep it updated also for maximum protection. If you do not have an antivirus software I recommend you go to Google and type in online antivirus scanner. You should be able to find some very good free scanners that you could use. My personal favorite is nod32. Its very good and not very resource intense like other antivirus programs I dealt with.

If you are looking for a free software that would protect your computer at all times I recommend you look into avg it's a free program that performs very well and its free.

How to Encourage Your Teen's Social Life

Your teenager's high school years should not be all about studying and making good grades.

Granted, this is important if your student is interested in college and you know he will need some sort of scholarship in order for you to afford it.
Extracurricular activities in high school are also very important for your teen. From the time he is 13 or so, your son or daughter is learning how to get along and socialize with other kids his age.
He may learn these skills earlier and if he does, more power to him. My point is this: if your freshman teen is not very social, now is the time for him to learn.

There is nothing worse than being a great student, but having no friends at all. No one to talk to or laugh with. Loneliness is a terrible thing to experience during your high school years; I ought to know since I went through it myself.

Don't let this happen to your teen.
There are many things you can do to encourage appropriate social behavior in your teenager.
Here are some ways you can get your teen involved socially with his school and the community at large: *** Have him do volunteer work Our local Catholic high school requires that students perform at least 25 hours of volunteer community service work each year.
They need 100 total hours of volunteer work to graduate.

Most students don't care to do volunteer work unless it is very interesting.

Last year, our son worked at the golf course and for the church, but they mostly had to find him something to do. Half the time he was standing around with nothing to do. When there was work, it was boring.

This year, he will volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Working for this organization will give him the opportunity to learn something useful.
If he finds it interesting enough, he may even want to extend his volunteer hours! This is the best result you can hope for.
Volunteer work gets your teen out into the community and helps him practice dealing with other adults besides his parents, teachers and coaches.
With volunteer work, he will learn how to deal with his boss and how to get along with and work beside his co-workers(if there are any).
He won't be paid, but at least he will get a taste of what it is like to work for other people or organizations.
*** Encourage him to go out for at least one sport Make sure that he chooses the sport and knows what is required to succeed.
He doesn't have to be great at it but he does have to like the sport, even if he only watches it on TV.
Most high school sports programs don't "cut" participants, but let them stay on the team as long as they are willing to come to all practices and try hard.
That's how it works at our high school.
For example, our son knew little or nothing about basketball, but tried out for the freshman team last year. He went to all practices and showed a willingness to work. He didn't get to play many minutes, but he didn't get discouraged.
He intends to go out for JV basketball this year. According to the basketball coach(who also coaches weight training), our son is in much better shape and will do much better at basketball this year. This is very encouraging for any parent to hear.

Also, your teen can play as many sports during the year as he wishes, just so the time spent in practices and at games does not interfere with or detract from his school work. Emphasize to your sports-minded teen that studies come first and that he can play sports only if he keeps his grades up.
Our private high school requires a "B" average in all courses in order to participate in or continue to play a sport. Be sure you can go to at least some of his games, even the "away" games.

Your teen will never tell you this, but it is important to him that he sees you at his games.

It's especially important if he does well.
He wants you to see him make a big play or help his team win.

One thing: don't get over involved. Never yell at the referees or at your son or daughter.

Just be there to watch the game.
You can certainly cheer if your teen makes a good play or his team wins, but keep it positive at all times.

Don't try to live through your teen or put pressure on him to do well.

*** See if he might be interested in student government Most secondary schools still have student government for each class.

Your teen can run for president, vice president, secretary or treasurer. Tell him that holding such an office(or even running for it and losing) shows leadership qualities to future employers or universities.
Also, he will interact with other like-minded teens from his own class.

So if your high schooler  is interested in government, politics or civics, get him involved with student government.
If you're not sure your school has this program, just call the school office to find out. *** Encourage your teen to go to dances, home games, movie nights, etc that are sponsored by your school Our high school has a homecoming dance each year.
Our son was nominated for homecoming "lord" for his class and won! He told me that it was an honor for him to be nominated and chosen at the homecoming game. I agree with him.

He was put forward by other kids in his own class; they even posted banners around the school telling other students to vote for him. It feels great as parents to know that your teen is popular with the other kids.
Your teen can also attend football, baseball or basketball games, even if he is not on the team.
This shows school "spirit".

Our teen son is simply interested in watching the game itself and seeing other kids he knows play.

But even if your teen isn't really interested in the game, he can socialize with the other kids that he sees in the stands.
If your high schooler wants you to go with him to a game, do so if you can. At the same time, encourage him to meet other kids at the games, so he is not always seen just around you.

Movie nights are fun, even if your teen doesn't particularly want to watch the movie.

At our high school, the kids bring a pillow or sleeping bag and sit on the floor. This is nice because they can gather around each other in a circle and talk throughout the film. *** As a parent, you can volunteer a few hours at your teenager's high school Our local parochial high school requires that each parent do at least five hours volunteer work per school year(20 hours in total) or pay $200. Most parents take the easy way out and pay the $200. Unless you are extremely busy, try to do something for your high school. An even better thing to do is to volunteer a few hours a week in the community, so you will set a good example for your teen. I volunteer four hours or so a week for our area hospital.

*** Have your teen join any school clubs he likes Most schools have a chess club, Spanish club, French club, service club, math club, music club, band, etc.

Be sure you and your teen explore any clubs or organizations the school has available and see what they actually do and when they meet. Usually, teachers or counselors sponsor these clubs and provide oversight.

Sometimes they get to go on field trips or even journey to other countries that speak the language they are studying.
This is an easy and painless way for your teen to socialize with others and do things he enjoys. *** If you observe that your teen seems to enjoy the company of another student, encourage him to invite his friend over to to your home.
In our area, the easiest thing to do is have them swim in the pool. Or if they have a common interest(like golf), you can help them meet at the golf course.
Be sure to meet the other kid's parents and be certain that your teen is also invited over to his new friend's house. It's a two way street; both sets of parents have to be willing to participate. Also, encourage your teen to have as many friends as possible.

Don't limit him to just one or two, especially if you are friends with the parents.
Think of it this way, when your teen makes a new friend, you might make two new friends when you meet the new friend's parents.

Conclusions: As you can see, there are many things your teen can do that will give him the opportunity to talk to other kids his age without them having to be in class together. Socializing in school helps prepare your high schooler  for a normal social life as an adult. It doesn't matter what he participates in as long as he does something.

If you think you have to push your teen a little, make sure you suggest something that you think he will be interested in.

Be willing to drive your teen anywhere he needs to go, as long as it has something to do with school or extracurricular activities.
You have to not only be willing but also able to drive.
Don't be too busy for your teen, you'll pay for it later! It's easy to opt out just by saying "I don't have the time to drive you".
Anyone who has ever said that to me really does have the time, they just don't want to do it! Don't cop out on your teen; make the time! By the time your teen gets to be 16 and can drive by himself, you won't have to chauffeur him around nearly as much. But if you are not willing or able to drive him around from the ages of 13 to 16, it will discourage him from socializing on his own later.
And that should be the last thing you want to have happen.

HD Vs Full HD or 720p Vs 1080p

Definition defines the definition of a high definition TV.

Does that seem a little confusing to you? Well let me explain in other words. Definition is another term that is loosely used to refer to display resolution, which is a term that is used to refer to the number of different pixels in a single screen. Regular display quality standards in modern consumer electronics tell us that the HD range starts right at 720p. From this point onward, all TV units capable of display resolutions equal or higher than that is already considered as an HDTV.

But the electronics industry never set the standard at only 720p, and although it does not necessarily end at 1080p, regular consumer media trends usually tend to sway only between these two resolutions. So, would there be any of the two that is better suited for my viewing experience then? Maybe, but that depends on a number of different factors. Defining 720p and 1080p What do these two numbers mean? These numbers are representations of the number of pixels that is present on vertically on the screen. So when the resolution says that it is 720p it means that the screen or media file has a size of 1280×720 pixels,1280 individual pixels at the top and bottom, and 720 individual pixels at the both sides.

The same is true for 1080p, although the horizontal pixel number would also of course change, into 1920×1080 pixels.
The difference between the two is already plainly seen as it is.
720p has in total of about 1 million pixels, while 1080p doubles the amount to 2 million. When compared side by side, 720 would look a tiny bit more blurred than 1080p.

And when compared to lower resolutions like 480p and 360p, there would simply be no competition.
However, despite this clear difference, in terms of the acceptable display resolution, it would largely have to depend on the HDTV unit and it purpose. Sure 1080p might provide superb detail, but 720p does not limit your viewing experience if you are using comparatively smaller HDTV units.
Why Knowing the Right Resolution for You is Important Still, even if 720p and 1080p are only separated by a pixel number value, knowing the display resolution that you need is still important, and here are a few technical reasons why: First, it would help you balance your budget better. Would having a better resolution really worth the price? Or, would it be wiser to stick to a smaller screen resolution? Depending on your final decision you can save a lot of money.

After all 720p is hardly a dismal resolution. Your viewing satisfaction may actually even allow you to appreciate the picture quality despite a few tiny bits of imperfections.
Second, it would help determine your preferred viewing distance more accurately. This is perhaps the most important thing that you have to consider when choosing the correct resolution.

If you plan on using the HDTV on a wide theater-like room, then 1080p is the way to go.
If you would need to place the unit nearer to the viewer, then 720p should do just fine.
For instance, there are some people out there who like to use an HDTV as a computer monitor. Of course, getting a giant TV would ruin their viewing comfort at close distance, so an HDTV with a smaller resolution would more preferable. Third, it can help preserve the viewing quality of some of your other media files or discs. Your HDTV might support 1080p, but what if most of your media discs or files are not in 1080p? The stretched image from your DVD player would probably just blur out and lose quality when it is viewed from a 1080p screen.
In 720p, the video might still have a few clarity issues, but at least it's not going to be as bad.

A Bicycle Without Pedals is a Great Investment For Your Children

Gone are the days when children's toys and bikes are there simply for amusement and games.
Some technology specialists have gone and taken some advice; a few tricks up their sleeves and they even made a bike that can improve your children's development.
With trying economic times ahead of us, we want to give our children a better chance at succeeding anyway we can. A simple, affordable and clever way to develop your children's balance, co-ordination and confidence can be brought about by using a bicycle without pedals. How does a PreBike (or bicycle without pedals) work? A PreBike is a bike without pedals.

It's simple.
It looks exactly the same as any other bike, except it doesn't have pedals.

The principle is that your child should run and therefore push themselves to glide.
Depending on the surface of the ground, your children can easily glide for a couple of seconds.

It's so simple to use.

What ages are suggested for a PreBike? A PreBike is suggested for extremely young toddlers.
The recommended ages to use a PreBike vary between one and five years of age.
It's not suitable for children older than 5 years old, as they may exceed the maximum weight limit. What advantages does a PreBike have? Pediatricians around the world agree that having an early understanding of motor-skills, confidence and balance will only benefit your child in the long run.

This remarkably simple technology has many advantages that will ultimately help your child become more developed.
• Motor-Skills: Your children's motor skills are significantly improved while using a PreBike.

They have to rely on their own skills to ride the bike instead of falling into a comfortable stance of using training wheels.
• Balance.

Their balance becomes incredibly defined! Often you'll find that young kids can easily jump onto a big kid's bike after using a PreBike for a couple of months. • Confidence.

A PreBike helps your child's confidence grow. Even though they are young, they will rely on themselves to glide down the pathway or road. This confidence at aptly being able to do this will help them on much later in life.
If you're looking for an affordable, great investment for your kids, then a bicycle without pedals is a must.

Helping Teens Move Past Troubled Family Backgrounds

In the past, treating a teen from troubled backgrounds involved a technique based on retelling bad memories of the past.

Although this may be at times a very effective treatment, it focuses only on the negative, never allowing the teen to fill emptiness left by expressing pain.

A new approach to therapy allows the teen to recognize and name the good character traits he/she learned in order to survive his/her abusive backgrounds. By making a teen aware of learned survival instincts, he/she is able to gain a sense of hope and a more optimist outlook of his/her own future.
Below are seven character strengths or survival instincts: Insight - the ability to become aware of parental differences that alert to danger, knowing why the parental figures act as they do, and then finally understanding the reasons behind the parents' actions and how they relate to the family structure.

Independence - the ability of the child to separate him/herself from conflict. The child first drifts from the conflict, and then he/she extricates him/herself from the emotional hold of the parents, finally completely disconnecting him/herself emotionally as well as physically from the dysfunctional family unit, gaining control of his/her own life.
Relationship resilience - the child first bonds with another adult to enlist an active parental figure or care giver.
The relationship progresses into an attachment period in which the child is able to give and receive positive attention and love. Those with this character strength search for and find many positive, close relationships including marriage into a more stable family.

Initiative - the child searches out positive outlets, works toward finding answers, begins to generate his/her own problem solving activities whether they be school work, research, business, or worthy causes.
He/she uses motivation to survive. Creativity & Humor - the ability to escape from the destructive situation in a positive way by playing or pretending to be someone or something else, then shaping this into a constructive talent which changes into a skill, or recognizes the humor in it all. Morality - the ability to judge rights and wrongs, valuing principles, and acting on those principles by serving others.
By identifying these developed traits, surviving dysfunctional family situations, teens gain a sense of pride, no longer looking at the past, but focusing on a better future.

A Sudden Awakening:A Cautionary Tale For Today's Youth!

It was a hot, humid night on July 11, 2002.

I was being chauffeured around Manhattan, New York City, in my two-door, white, Mercedes Benz CL600 by my friend Craig Boogie, when we pulled in front of a busy night club.
"Jamila come with me for a moment.

" Craig said zealously as he jumped out of the car and walked around to the passenger door, signaling for me to get out.

"No Craig! I ain't going to no club tonight.
" I responded adamantly, reclining my seat back and covering my slim, caramel toned face with my large, black designer glasses.
Craig proceeded to plead that I come in, but I dismissed him, rolled up my window and turned up the radio.

Seeing that is was a hopeless cause, Craig went into the club without me. I assumed he was only going to make a quick stop, but several minutes went by and Craig had still not returned.
I called his phone several times, no answer.

Agitated, I got out of the car, locked the doors and angrily proceeded to make my way into the jam-packed night club.

As I entered the building, I heard loud familiar voices shout, "SURPRISE, Happy Birthday!" Hugs and kisses greeted me from my friends who were mostly celebrities and music industry executives. I felt honored and distinguished as they all treated me like a queen that night. I was 25 years old and a multi-millionaire.

I had made it to what I perceived was true success.

I went from being a small-time girl from the suburbs of Jamaica Queens, New York to being a well-sought out, respected business woman. I lived in a prestigious gated community in Northern, New Jersey. I had a high-end collection of luxury cars and enough diamond jewelry and fur coats to fill up a store. In my mind I was set for life.
Unfortunately, my success was shortly lived. On July 16, 2008, just six years later, I stood in front of Judge Jose Linares at the Newark Federal District Court in New Jersey awaiting to be sentenced on bank fraud charges.
My past had suddenly caught up to me.

What I perceived as a common business short cut had ruined my life and destroyed my business.
My heart began to race as I waited for the judge to impose his sentence upon me.

It had been 5 long years since my federal investigation began.
I anxiously wanted to end the 5 year nightmare I had encountered.

In a few minutes this long saga will be all over, I thought to my self as I recited Psalms 23 silently underneath my breath. "I hereby sentence you to 151 months in federal prison and 5 years probation.

" Judge Linares, a plump, middle aged Cuban-American (who could pass for White) declared as he banged his wooden gavel. Inside I instantly became numb.
I tried to pull it together to calculate how many years 151 months equated to.

"Twelve and a half years, oh that's crazy!" I said as the bailiff came over to take me into custody. I was given a few moments to remove my 4 carat diamond ring, my diamond tennis bracelet and matching chain, and my diamond bezel watch. I tucked my expensive jewelry into my oversized Louis Vuitton bag, along with the keys to the brand new Escalade I had recently purchased.
I had driven myself to court, definitely not expecting to be sent to federal prison.

As I handed my belongings to my lawyer, along with the valet ticket for my car that was parked in the court's municipal parking lot, his face turned beet red.

It was clear he also was caught by surprise and couldn't believe the judge had sentenced me to over a decade behind bars.

In a matter of moments I made a huge transformation.

I was forced to remove my designer clothes and shoes, and I was handed a khaki prison jumpsuit and rundown, blue skip sneakers to change into.

This couldn't be so, I thought to myself.
In the blink of an eye, I went from being a free woman to federal prisoner #59253-053.

I was indeed living my worst nightmare! Stripped of all the worldly props I used to hide my insecurities, I stared in the small, rusted mirror in my prison cell.

Instantly, I hated the reflection of the image I saw.
Filled with pounds of guilt and shame, I was over-burdened and disheartened.

When the prison doors shut behind me, I felt like my life was over! Day in and day out, I wallowed in my negative thoughts, playing out my funeral arrangements in my mind.

Confined to a 5 1/2 x 9 prison cell, I had no one to lean on or turn to.
I was trapped! Sobbing with anxiety and grief, my life flashed before my eyes.

I thought about all the things I had done and all the people I tried my best to please.

Even more disappointing, I was abandoned by those I thought were really my friends.
The sharp pain of hurt and disappointment repeated continuously, forcing me to realize how baseless the superficial things I chased so passionately after were.
Desperate in despair, I reached for the Bible a women in the next cell had given me.

For countless hours on end I read. Each page I finished, the stronger I seemed to get. In the darkest place of my life, through the word of God, I was able to see the light.
For the first time in many years, I was quiet enough to listen to the still inner voice that ministered to me. Instantly, I was convicted.

I knew in order to survive the long journey that was ahead I had no choice but to change my ways and follow the path God desired for me.
This journey has not been easy, but I can say with the grace of God I made it! Today, six years later, I see things so differently than before. Through my mistakes I realize the importance of education and hard work.

My experience has taught me what we think is a short cut always turns out to be the long wrong route! Behind bars, I've had to raise my children from a prison visiting room.
My son was 11 years old when I was first incarcerated.

This past June he graduated from high school, which was one of the many memorable occasions I've missed out on.
Not only have I had to suffer, my family has also been left to bare the pain for my errors.
Having paid a severe price for my actions, I realize nothing was ever worth jeopardizing my freedom! I'm sharing my story with you so you can take heed to my message and learn from my mistakes.

No matter how desperate you may seem or how easy you think it is to make a come up, avoid crime at all cost! Which ever way you cut it, in the end you will get caught! Therefore, stay in school, get your education and passionately follow your dreams.

Hard work will pay off in the end and it won't be snatched away.
Take it from me, crime just doesn't pay, so DON'T DO IT!

What Are The Latest Hot Trends In The Toy And Game Industry And How To Profit From It?

Well there are several ways to find out.
Go to toy and game forums and see what most people are talking about, or go to Amazon and see what the latest hot toys and games are on there. You could also try eBay's, hottest products, and keep an eye out for any toy and game trade fairs, updates on YouTube or on TV, the list is endless but you probably get the idea. At present small, inexpensive, cute and fun toys seem to be the in-thing for toys.
Go-Go Pets is the most obvious one. For board games there doesn't seem to be much change, traditional is best with the state of the world's economies at present.

Monopoly, Scrabble, card games, etc.
People are seeking security in things that they are comfortable or familiar with.

So coming up with a new card game, or board game that relies on a board, playing pieces instead of some space age concept with DVD,s, etc has a better chance at the moment. Developing an idea around age old concepts may work as well. I did that with a successful puzzle.

I looked through some 15 to 19 century puzzles and found a concept that l used modern materials on, and created a successful idea.

Going to a Toy Fair is the best way, but you will need a business name, or get invited as a guest by a toy company that you know that can sign you in..

.
Two friends developed a board game around Monopoly, or a close cousin to it, and then developed a clever marketing campaign on Facebook to get a large game company to develop it.

The game revolved around starting with a gold credit card and through, (hopefully good investments) you could make your way up to a black card, or own billions of dollars worth of assets on it to win.

They also developed a monopoly type character on Facebook that got Hasbro's attention, (Hasbro owns Monopoly and is the world's largest toy and game company) then substantial profits was only a matter of time.

Most people develop, (or try to develop) an idea on an already popular concept, with most failing.
But there are reasons why the failure rate is so high.

• Most people try one to three times, then give up. I personally tried 7 times when l got into this exciting area with an early success.
And l have to admit that l got my original idea from an old puzzle, in a 15 to 19 century puzzle book.

• Some people take the high risk path.

The high risk path is mortgaging their house on an idea related to Monopoly or other popular board game, etc; and since their friends and family convince them that it is a winner, even though Hasbro has rejected it, they go ahead anyway and lose $100,000 or more or their house at worst.

It is best to run your idea past a professional business first, then after several years when you start to get a feel for this industry then you can start to make your own judgements about what board game can work and what won't. The experts can sometime reject a great idea, but that is few and far between. It all boils down to how do you churn out great ideas and quickly develop them into an idea to show them.
Keeping your eyes and ears open to anything that can be developed is the best approach.

It doesn't have to be based on a hot board game.

Another way is to loosely develop your idea around 2 or three popular ideas. Instead of basing it on Monopoly, try developing an idea around Monopoly and chess, or Monopoly and Scrabble.
A few areas to keep away from when developing an idea is...

• Board games that use a lot of plastic, plastic extrusion can run into hundreds of thousands of dollars extra for a game company. So you are decreasing your chances if you wanted to develop a variation to Mousetrap for example. • Toys and puzzle ideas can make you a lot less than a board game, although as Rubik's Cube has shown they can also make a lot of money.
There are other reasons, but they are the main ones. So, to wrap up l would recommend approaching a game company in your area, after developing 1 to 3 good ideas as much as you can.
The more developed an idea the more chance you have of them saying, yes!

Gang Prevention Strategies

Gang prevention is a problem we have been struggling with for a long time, but it seems that the more effort that goes into this cause, the worse the problem seems to escalate.
Is it a problem for government or does the solution lie with all of us? Even if the problem is one for everyone to deal with where do we begin? Has the problem with gangs spiralled to such a degree that us as individuals are helpless to eradicate it.
Or is it because we think we cannot do much to prevent the situation that we just don't.

Although gangs are a huge burden on society, we don't often know a lot about it. To stop gangs, it is imperative to know gangs better, their ways of communication and their behaviours.
The police seem to be swamped with crimes committed by gangs and always need the help of everyone to let them know when there are any gang related activities going on.

A gang is a group of people with a common idea.

The gang will be identified by its name, colors and all members will be required to commit a crime.

Because gang members usually come from bad homes and poor neighbourhoods they find acceptance and support in their gangs.
Their feelings towards their fellow gang mates can be compared to that of family and therefore they will do anything their gangs require.

Starting to eradicate gang formation begins by looking at why people join gangs in the first place.

Because gangs are the result of people being in bad situations financially and family wise, a plan to mitigate such social problems must be included in gang prevention.

More employment opportunities must exist for young people and they should receive acceptance and support elsewhere, and not from gangs.

Gang prevention begins at home when you suspect that a member of your family or a neighbour is a gangster. The signs often include a change in dress style, secret behaviour and increase in money and possessions.
If you suspect that a person is involved in such activity it is our duty to acknowledge it and report it.
A problem only increases when you bury it and pretend it does not exist.
You may even discover that gang problems are closer to home than what you think.
Strategies For Gang Prevention: You have to try to make sure that young people in your family occupy their time with activities that are wholesome and productive, don't just allow them to hang around on street corners, the devil makes work for idle hands, make sure that they are involved with organised sports, hobbies and after school activities, these are all excellent ways to fill a young person's time and make them feel a part of a community.
The biggest supporters of gang prevention are faith-based organization such as churches and NGO's.

Their crime prevention efforts in general are outstanding and because they are mainly aimed at the youth, gang prevention becomes a cause at the top of their lists. Believing that young people have a better chance of being rehabilitated and reformed if they are given positive activities, they take a more direct role in working with young people.
Gang members need to realize that gangs only bring a wasted future and certainly are no solution.
Gang prevention should deal with the individual involved in order for them to have hope for a better life.
